The north plays by different rules: distances are vast, seasons are absolute, and the springs are extraordinary. Liard River Hot Springs — Canada’s second largest — steams beside the Alaska Highway, its boardwalk crossing a warm swamp that keeps orchids and moose in business through -30°C winters.

Across the Hecate Strait, G̱andll K’in Gwaay.yaay (Hotspring Island) offers rock pools on a sacred Haida island watched over by the Watchmen, reachable only by boat, kayak or floatplane inside Gwaii Haanas. And near Terrace, the once-grand Lakelse resort sits closed, waiting on a Kitselas-led geothermal future.
